Roger Ver is an early Bitcoin adopter, advocate, and investor in Bitcoin startups. He was known for paying for Bitcoin ad billboards to raise awareness and promoting Bitcoin as a tool to defund wars. More about Roger: Wikipedia
Roger is a part of the big blocker community, which after several unsuccessful attempts to enforce big blocks in Bitcoin, finally forked to the BCH chain. Roger is one of the cheerleaders of the BCH fork, insisting to call the new fork “Bitcoin Cash” rather than “Bcash” in an alleged attempt to highjack the Bitcoin brand. Bitcoin Magazine
Roger’s Bitcoin.com starts selling Bcash and Bitcoin with confusing names, allegedly to trick newcomers to buy BCH fork by default instead of the real Bitcoin. Examples: Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Core, and Bitcoin (BCH) vs Bitcoin (BTC).
The reason there is so much hostility from Bitcoin Core towards Bitcoin Cash is because Core knows they have stolen the name but are advocating a completely different system than what was originally described by Satoshi.
